TheShoalhaven, with its strong and diverse natural beauty, has always provided arich source of artistic inspiration. Iconic Shoalhaven explores the history anddevelopment of the area and its community through a series of works dating fromthe 1800s through to the current day.

SamuelElyard’s watercolours are not just beautiful, but also depict the originationof Nowra and its historic buildings, as well as significant events such as the1870s Great Flood and the construction of the first bridge over the Shoalhaven.

MaxDupain’s photographic album of a camping trip to Culburra has become a famousrepresentation of Australian beach culture, and though taken 80 years ago, explores the universality of a seaside holiday and how little it has changedover the years.
